India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors today expanded its range of vehicles even further by unveiling 21 new commercial vehicles.
Unveiling the 21 vehicles, Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors said, "The engines of infrastructure development, consumer consumption and e-commerce powering the Indian economy require continued transportation support to run seamlessly. The 21 new vehicles include seven new medium and heavy commercial vehicles from its Construck, Tractor-Trailer and Rigid truck range. All seven trucks feature higher fuel efficiency.
The 7 new Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles are the Signa 5530.S, 4623.S, 4625.S ESC (truck with an industry-first electronic stability control), 4221.T, 4021.S, 3118.T(India's first 10-wheeler 31T Truck with 12.5T Lift axle), and the Prima 2830.K.
Tata also revealed 5 new intermediate and light commercial vehicles. These five vehicles range between 4-18 tonnes gross vehicle weight and feature CNG powertrains, increased deck length and ultra-sleek cabins.
The five trucks include the Ultra T.18 SL, a first of its kind offering in the 18-tonne segment, with a best-in-class payload of 11.5 tonnes. Other trucks include the 407G, an updated version of Tata's trusty pickup with a CNG powertrain along with the 709G CNG, which offers the largest loading area on a 4-tyre CNG truck. The other two new offerings in the segment are the LPT 510 with its unique 10ft load body and short wheelbase and the Ultra T.6.

These include the Winger Cargo, the Ace Petrol CX cab chassis (the most affordable four-wheeler for multiple commercial applications), the Ace Gold Diesel+ and the Intra V30 High deck.
Tata Motors also took the covers off five new commercial vehicles to help ferry passengers. These include a brand new all-electric bus dubbed the Starbus 4/12 which features a low floor and offers mass transit solutions to cities across the country. The Starbus 4/12 has a range of around 200 kilometres on a single charge and can reach a top speed of 75km/h. Charging the Starbus 4/12 takes between two and three hours using a fast charger.
Other passenger ferrying solutions unveiled by Tata Motors include the Starbus 2200 for school and staff transportation needs, the Cityride Prime - a bus with a spacious passenger salon and wider gangway along with the 13.5-metre long Magna coach for luxury inter-city travel. The final vehicle in this class was the Winger 15S, which features a plush ride and segment-first comfort features.
Thoughts on the new Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles
Tata has expanded its commercial once again as it looks to help operators cut down on overall costs while upping production. The foray into fully electric public transport with the Starbus 4/12 electric bus is something we really hope gets a lot of interest from the cities across the nation.
